Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday (March 13) scotched speculation over his son Aaditya Thackeray contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
He said the Shiv Sena scion would not contest the election as reported by a section of media.
"I have not held Aaditya back. He will decide if or not he should contest elections. But this time around, he will not contest elections," Thackeray told the reporters at his residence in Mumbai.
Thackeray also hit back at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar. He said, "Shiv Sena's philosophy is not one that makes others' children to wash one's utensils."

Pawar on Monday (March 12) had said that it was not his responsibility to take care of others' sons. It was a jibe at Maharashtra Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, after his son Sujay joined Bharatiya Janata Party, as the NCP refused to spare the south Ahmednagar Lok Sabha constituency for the Congress party.
Explaining Thackeray's comments on Aaditya, a Shiv Sena leader said that the party would like him to contest an assembly by-poll in case the party is in a dominant position in the next state government.
"We would not like Uddhavji and Aaditya, the only crowd pullers of Shiv Sena, to remain stuck in a particular constituency, " he said.
The Shiv Sena leader said that if Shiv Sena wins 80 plus seats in the assembly polls, scheduled in October this year, a party MLA will be asked to vacate his seat to accommodate Aditya.
"As per the alliance pact, we are expected to get the chief minister's post for first two and a half years. In that case, Aaditya would be in a position to monitor the government closely," he added.
Meanwhile, the BJP and Shiv Sena have decided to hold their first inaugural joint campaign rally for the Lok Sabha polls at the temple town of Kolhapur on March 24, where the in-laws of BJP president Amit Shah live.
Thackeray said that a rough draft of the joint poll strategy has been worked out. Both the parties also have nominated coordinators for each of the six regions in the state. Senior ministers like Arjun Khotkar, Pankaja Munde, Subhash Desai, Ravindra Chavan, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Dada Bhuse have been appointed to sort out differences between the cadres and chalk out joint poll campaigns.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Thackeray will address region-wise joint meetings of party cadres on March 15, March 17 and March 18. A separate meeting of Shiv Sena and BJP cadres from Mumbai will be held at a later stage.
