  • PUBG Lite will be offered on Steam, most probably as a beta version.
  • Steam will make the game more accessible across a diverse range of PC users.
  • Unlike PUBG, PUBG Lite is free to download and doesn't require high-end PCs.
PlayerUnknown's BattleGround (PUBG) has been receiving a lot of flak recently for causing immense addiction amongst players, especially youngsters. That said, PUBG still rules the charts in the mobile games segment and the PC version was also rated as one of the best selling games on Steam. However, the PC version, which comes with realistic graphics and advanced physics, is only restricted to high-end gaming PCs. To reach more players who don't have access to a gaming laptop or desktop, the developers came up with PUBG Lite, which claims to offer the full PUBG experience optimised for low-end PCs. So far, the game was available in beta and soon, it could be available widely to more people across the world.
In their latest developer letter, the developers have announced that PUBG Lite will be aiming for Steam. Similar to the normal version of the game, PUBG Lite will be offered on Steam, most probably as a beta version for the first few months. The developers say that putting PUBG Lite on Steam will help players enjoy the game more easily. Steam will also make the game more accessible across a diverse range of PC users.
Steam is a game distribution platform that aids developers to sell their games to people in a centralised marketplace. PUBG is presently available exclusively on Steam and if you want to play the game on your computer, then you will need to be a member of Steam and purchase the game. Steam provides a sort of platform to let you earn rewards and get more games at discounted prices.
If PUBG Lite comes to Steam very soon, it is expected to be downloaded by millions of PUBG fans who have only experienced the game on mobile platforms. Unlike PUBG, PUBG Lite is free to download and doesn't require high-end processors and GPU to run the game. In fact, you can run PUBG Lite on your PC if it has the following minimum configuration:

PUBG Lite minimum system requirements

OS: Window 7,8,10, (64-bit)
CPU: Core i3 2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000
HDD: 4GB
PUBG Lite claims to offer the same experience you can get on the normal PC version. However, PUBG Lite is optimised for low-end PCs. The graphics are toned down so you won't get those high-resolution textures as well as reflections. Additionally, the content is also optimised and players who have been playing the beta version can only play matches on Erangel only. That said, the developers assure that the gameplay experience will be similar to what is delivered on the normal version.
Since the game will be free to download and play, PUBG Lite is expected to follow the PUBG MOBILE way of earning via selling in-game items. Since the game will run on almost any decent laptop one can buy in the market, it is speculated to take over the PC emulator of PUBG MOBILE.
