Samsung is not planning on waiting too long for its next Galaxy M smartphone. After launching the Galaxy M10 (Review) and Galaxy M20 (Review) in India least month, the company will now unveil the Galaxy M30 on February 27 at 6pm. Samsung has confirmed the launch of the Galaxy M30 via a teaser on Twitter. The teaser shows off the device from the front and back, onfirming that it will indeed come with triple rear cameras and an Infinity-U display.
The Galaxy M30 launch is being teased with the hashtag #IM3XPOWERED, where the 3X refers to the triple camera setup on the back. The teaser also confirms that the Galaxy M30 will be available on Amazon India like the M10 and M20. The Galaxy M30 has been leaked in recent weeks, giving us a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Samsung is not keeping the design of the M30 a secret ahead of its official launch. The teaser posted on Saturday shows an edge-to-edge display on the front with a notch that looks deeper and more rounded compared to the notch on the M10 and M20. This leads us to believe that the M30 will get an Infinity-U display rather than an Infinity-V display, making it the first device to sport the new display type from Samsung. Based on recent rumours, this could be an AMOLED display with a 6.38-inch screen size and FHD+ resolution.
It’s hard to tell from the image whether the rear panel of the M30 is metal or plastic. But we can confirm a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a vertically placed triple camera system. As per previous reports, the Galaxy M30 may offer a 13MP + 5MP + 5MP configuration. It is assumed that the camera system will include an ultra wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens with 3X zoom. Meanwhile, the notch on the front is said to house a 16MP front-facing camera.
As for everything else, the Galaxy M30 should get a Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack around the frame. The handset is said to get the same Exynos 7904 chipset that powers the Galaxy M20. This could be paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. Another big USP of the device the 5,000mAh battery that is rumoured to feature inside the M30.
Since the Galaxy M30 is expected to slot just above the M20, we expect a price tag somewhere around Rs 15,000, as per recent reports. The Galaxy M30 could be touted as the cheapest phone to come with a triple camera setup, if priced below the Galaxy A7 (2018), which currently costs Rs 18,990.
