Destiny 2 Player Beats Strike Boss in One Hit

In the world of Destiny and Destiny 2, players are always trying to find new ways to “game” the system. Whether it’s exploiting mechanics to beat raid bosses with fewer people, or finding ways to synergize perks for big damage, Destiny 2 players are always testing the boundaries of the game.

With that in mind, one Destiny 2 player set out to see if it was possible to kill a Strike boss with a single melee attack. And as it turns out, if the situations are perfect, it is possible to do so.
Destiny 2 community member DVS presumed that it was possible to one hit melee kill a strike boss, but needed the right modifiers, buffs, debuffs. However, since the ideal method requires switching armor, the only way to properly test the theory was in a Heroic Strike. Moreover, he needed to wait until the modifiers were perfect in the Heroic Strike, which took some time.
Specifically, DVS needed the brawler and solar burn modifiers to be active, but the blackout, grounded, and glass negative modifiers could not be active. What he needed was a Heroic Strike day that featured solar burn, brawler, and iron. Just such a combination finally appeared, and here are the results.
Of course, there are some other factors at play as well. DVS maintains the Synthoceps’ Biotic Enhancements buff for extra damage while switching to the Wormgod Caress gauntlets and getting 5 quick melee kills for bonus melee damage. Combining those melee-based buffs with the Roaring Flames buff on the new Burning Maul subclass tree, as well as a Melting Point/Hammer Strike from a teammate and the Transcendent Blessing or Riven’s Curse mods for extra Dreaming City damage amounts to maximum damage of 999,999 and an instant kill of Sedia in The Corrupted Strike.
DVS had done the math and expected to deliver somewhere in the range of 700,000 damage but it seems some of the buffs and debuffs in Destiny 2 are multiplicative instead of additive. Still, everything needed to be perfect in order to pull the feat off now that the Synthoceps exploit is gone from the game.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
